Unearthing Beauty in Everyday Life is the Trick to Happiness

Mindfulness is a lifelong practice of focus and appreciation

We’re all striving for something in life.

As humans we’re constantly seeking a purpose, either we’re lacking it and trying to find it; or we’ve found it and we’re not letting it go.

Either way, the rush and buzz of modern life carries us in a relentless torrent through our busy schedules and packed calendars.

Careering from one thing to the next, the future always the goal, the present always the sacrifice.

Tilting towards the next-best-thing, relentlessly moving, tirelessly seeking.

And the truth is, it can get too much.

Because it can seem like it never goes away.

The never-ending, always-rolling, conveyer belt of ambition and thirst for satisfaction.

It can cause unhappiness, depression and severe anxiety.

It can raise the obvious questions…

Am I doing enough?

Have I progressed far enough?

What’s my next set of goals? Have I hit them? Did I fall short?

It can build a cycle of self doubt and a decrease in confidence.

But being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means
that you decided to look beyond the imperfections.

It means that you focus on extracting a piece of joy from every moment in the day.

It means taking an extra second to savour a mouthful, or notice the depth of greenery as spring starts to bloom, or appreciating the intricate detail of a freshly picked flower.

Mindfulness is the art of enjoying what was made to be enjoyed, rather than letting it pass you by.

Peace. RH.
